I knew they’d do that!!!

May 28, 2007

In knew they’d do that (IKTDT) NUMBER ONE: The chickens laid their first egg today, but as they’ve just been wormed we can’t eat it.

IKTDT NUMBER TWO: They laid it at the most inaccessable place in the run AND under a conifer!!!

IKTDT NUMBER THREE: When we were working out how best to worm them, one of then had a poo down the OH’s jumper :D

The giggles

May 23, 2007

Last night I had a dream.

In it, something very trivial happened, but it was one of those things that make you giggle. So I giggled in my dream. Then, in my dream as I’m prone to do when awake, I got the giggles – big belly wobbling ones.

Today was the first day in my life that I’ve ever woke myself up laughing.

Of course then, the concept of waking myself up giggling made me giggle more, but as I wasn’t awake properly the only evidence of this was violent shaking coupled with a few sobs to get breath. This then woke the OH up in instant “Oh no! What’s wrong?” mode (except, as he wasn’t awake it was more “oumn, srong?”).

Now that really made me giggle!

That time of year

May 9, 2007

It’s that time of year when all my good intentions go to pot. All those routines I’ve carefully evolved (or not) for getting things done – you know, cleaning, baking, cooking, writing the blog etc – all fall by the wayside. It’s growing season!!!

Having spent the last 2 months sowing seeds and tinkering in the polytunnel and greenhouse, now everything needs to be planted out. It’s not helped by the unseasonably warm weather (will that soon be seasonally warm weather I wonder?), or the unseasonably empty water butts! The upshot is, all my time is spent either in the greenhouse (mostly shifting stuff out), polytunnel (planting out and harvesting) or at the veg plot (planting out and weeding).

I was planning on having photos to go with this posting, but when I finally remembered to take the camera to the plot I got drenched by a particularly heavy passing shower. With no shelter (I haven’t got a shed there) I had no choice but to pack up and come home – sans photos. Next time maybe!
