About

I currently: grow my own veg
I aim: to be self-reliant, to reduce my eco-footprint, to be more self-sufficient, to learn, to enjoy, to help and if nothing else – to smile

  1. Saw your comments about the chooks? We are new to this site so hope we can be of some help :)
We believe in ‘Direct recycling’ wherever possible and one of the ‘untapped’ opportunities is local companies ( usually Oil related ) who use wooden crates, sometimes 6ft x 4ft which can be easily converted to good animal shelters.

We are in the process of converting some, both complete and in partitions to duck houses.

We also have managed to obtain a number of large solid wooden reels ( about 6 – 8 ft accross ) which when turned on their sides, and an adequate entrance created – i.e. saw or kick out a few of the interior boards, can create some really well insulated and desirable animal housing.

As far as the joinery skills are concerned…we don’t have any :) a hammer and ’some attitude ‘ is required :)

Don’t want everyone taking advantage of our ‘possible’ resources :) but are always willing to help when we can.

Feel free to contact us! ( Especially if you can rehome some cockerels? )…We know! but its worth asking :)

  2. This is not really a comment on the post, but a comment on the whole blog, I find that you are more involved in earth-friendliness than I am, yet. There might be a lot I can learn from you and I´d like you to comment on my blog and give me some advice/suggestions/ideas on what I´m trying to accomplish.

    Have a great day!
