Yeah, no problem working the soil here as it's quite sandy (one of the reasons I dislike of bare soil), I just didn't want to end up burying a layer of snow/ice/frost - plus there is a clay content, so it does stick to tools rather well for about 24hrs after rain.

Looking good. We've had the same poor weather, but I've managed to work through most of it as our raised beds have excellent drainage. The same can't be said about the fields, which remain wet, sticky, greasy and generally unworkable. I need a dry spell soon as I have several hundred square metres of tatties to go in, followed by neeps.

I know what you mean about Fort Knox. Just when I think I have managed to secure my veg, the little rascal find a new entrance way and that's that. I did grow to large purple Kale this year though.

Force 12. Tie your children down. (We've actually had a couple of storms here where I've been blown four or five feet, and quite a few where the children were knocked falt.)

I agree, Autumn is here...the birds told me!

Have you noticed the birds have changed their song? daft I know, but that's one of the first things I notice.

That's an interesting point....
I've had similar experiences.
I'm based in the UK, and usually find that if I'm being dealt with by a call centre person from this country, that it's smooth, you're truly listened to, and matters get resolved. Just yesterday I had to deal with a call centre in the financial services sector. I was moaning about a debt on my credit card over a late payment, and guess what.... they simply wiped it off, there and then, Gone!!!
It took the wind out of my sails.

Maybe it's a question of call centres in the same country? Or is that a racist comment?
